What am I like and why do I work with certain themes? Why do I do things
this way and not another? My work takes on the form of the therapy; and in
better cases, it is a therapy for others who are around and are looking.
Perhaps that is the reason why my inspiration is almost all the time the
same: friends, events connected to me, and relationships. Relationships and
tensions between man and woman, my personal ones and the general ones,
in the present and in the light of historical reflection. I am convinced that
even on the small scale, of a family, even my small family, I can find the
most important subjects. Beyond this, my work is something very private
for me, a place where I don't like to allow anyone to enter, unless there is
an essential need for it.
I think it is fitting for me to compare my work to an old Chinese quotation,
which I read somewhere, some time ago:
"It is as if you sit on a tiger, which you I don't know how to tame and
which runs with me in an unknown direction and unknown speed"
